Memorial Weekend '09

Last weekend we went to MI to spend the holiday with our families. It was so nice to be able to see everyone again but as always we were crazy busy! About an hour after we arrived I received a phone call from my cousin, Nicki, announcing that little Miss Lily had arrived...almost 3 weeks early!! It wasn't too much of a surprise, Nicki had been having contractions for awhile, and I was thrilled to be able to see her. Congrats again Nicki & Chad!! We also attended my cousin Josh's open house (Congrats on your graduation Josh-have fun in Germany). Nana & Papa Barnett came down from Northport to spend an evening with us grilling out at uncle Dave's. And after that we went down to the beach to play in the sand and watch the sunset. West Michigan really does have some of the best sunsets!

On Sun we went down to Saranac to visit with Bob & Nancy Luban and to take Jackson fishing for the first time. He was a little nervous to go out on the dock at first but overcame it fast and caught his first fish. He was SOO excited and loved that he was able to do it with daddy, his best friend. After spending the day at the lake we played putt-putt with Nana & Papa Luban and took a spin on the go-carts.

Monday morning Jackson and I met my oldest friend (we've known each other since we were 5), Dawn, and her family at the zoo. It was a beautiful day and it was so nice to catch up and to meet her boys. Jackson and Jack not only had a great time together they both are in love with Thomas. Thank you so much for meeting us Dawn & Marty, we had a wonderful time! After the zoo we went to see Nana & Papa Driesenga and of course Cam & Austin. I think that Jackson thinks my sister has two houses, the one with the toys and the one with Jake (the dog). Sorry Mom & Dad, he knows your always there but still calls it Cam & Austin's house. :) We spent the evening grilling out, playing with the boys, fishing and adopting a kitten. Yes, we came home with a kitten. Bubba wasn't very excited at first but I think he's starting to come around, at least I hope he is. Tucker is the newest member of the family and is such a little cuddle bug. She comes to bed and sleeps with us the entire night. She and Jackson love playing together. The other day she had Jackson in tears he was laughing so hard.

We got back on Tues just in time for Jackson's last day of school. Now we can plan playdates, go to the parks and the zoo whenever we want. Well once summer decides to get here. To end the weekend Brandon and I went to Miller Park with Crystal and Trey Tues night to cheer on the Brewers. Too bad they lost. Hopefully ya'll had a great holiday too!

Update

Hi! It's been a while since I've updated this but there hasn't been a whole lot to report. Since the last update we've had some more playdates and took our first trip to the zoo this year. Jackson took pee-wee baseball and is signed up for soccer this fall. My sister and her family came over and spent Easter with us. Brandon and I went to a Brewer's game and had a night out with friends, NO KIDS!! We had a new roof put on the house and had a pretty good Mother's day, well with the exception of Jackson's blackeye. Don't worry...he's OK...he was playing with the neighbor kids and caught a stick with his face. But now we've learned not to throw sticks in the air. We are also taking classes to become members of the church where Jackson goes to school and Brandon has joined the church's softball team. His first game was rained out and it's looking like tonight's might be too. That's it in a nutshell. We are looking forward to heading to MI next weekend for the holiday weekend.
